Hi

I've searched through previous posts but have been unable to find any comskip settings for us in the UK with recordings made off freeview digital channels. Does anyone know if anyone has done the tuning & published the settings that work anywhere.

I did use the defaults. But when I played the file using gbpvr the markers did not seem to match up to the actual positions of the ads in the recording. So was wondering if I needed to do any tuning. But after looking at the notes thought that I'd ask since I'm not sure that I've got the time to spend on a long tuning process. If the defaults should generally work then perhaps I need to try it with some more recordings to see how it performs.

OK,
If you keep having problems with some channels and there is no-one with a tuned ini file for UK freeview DTV then you can follow the procedure described here

I have to say that the defaults work pretty well for channel 4, 5 and E4 including E4+1 and More 4 variants.

The worst one I find is ITV and ITV2 as they tend to fade between movies and the floating deckchair thingy (ITV2 particulary) and thus the fade causes a problem for comskip.

Just checked a recording that I recently made off E4. There were 4 ad segments in it & comskip did the following:
  1. missed the initial couple of ads from the 1st segment
  2. missed just the beginning of the first ad but overran into the recording on the second segment
  3. missed the initial couple of ads and the end of the last ad on the 3rd segment
  4. missed the initial couple of ads in the 4th segment

I've not had much chance to look at any other recordings yet but will do when time allows.

Almost all of my existing recordings are in ms-dvr format. What is the status of support for ms-dvr?

The beta 2 seems to work okish.
Some problems identified and those will be solved in the upcoming build 30
