No Audio - PVR 150/Ext. Tuner

Hi,

I can't manage to get sound on live TV or recording while using a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR150. Picture is fine.

A test recording with the WinTV application worked fine. (Got both sound and image). Normal window sounds are also working fine.

I don't see any option for the audio source in the capture source panel.

What should I be looking for? Or what information should I provide in order to get help? (Currently selected the external tuner/fixed channel option, trying the internal tuner option give me noise on both the screen and the audio)

I found a post with a similar problem but it seems that was with an older version of GB-PVR (0.22?)

Its most likely related to either the version of the PVR150 drivers you have installed, or the audio decoder you're using.

Follow-up...

I updated my Hauppauge driver to the WinTV-PVR-150 driver beta 20.54 that according to the PVR-150 support page:

"Fix for lack of audio on some TV channels when using the WinTV-PVR-150 and WinTV-PVR-500 under Windows Media Center Edition, Linux, SageTV or BeyondTV"

Rebooted, re-started GB-PVR and got audio on live TV... once!

I went back to the main menu, then going back to live TV I had lost the sound again...

Rebooting the PC made it even worse...both picture and sound are gone (I get a somewhat blank screen, not random noise)

Ok, it's a beta driver... I then installed the version 2035_23348 driver and it seems to solve my problem.

I have one issue left, sound level varies a lot between some channel. Beside making sure the cable box is set to the maximum level that will record cleaning on the weakess channel, any else I can do? I there a way to set the recorded sound level per channel?

There is nothing built in that will help this, but there are some things like "ffdshow audio" that will equalise the sound.
