Hi all,
I'm thinking about moving to gbpvr from SageTV because this software is free and looks much more functional. However, I have a question about remote controls

Currently, I have a WinTV PVR-150MCE capture board, and it came with the MCE2005 remote and the IR reciever for it. I use HIP to handle the mapping of buttons, etc.

I'm looking to get a universal remote control which will control everything. I've been leaning towards getting the Logitech Harmony 680, because it was the one designed for MCE. My question is though, will I be able to get the harmony to work with the IR reciever I have and HIP? A search of the forums indicated alot of people are sucessfully using the harmony set up as the hauppauge remote, but do I have this option since I have the media center edition of the PVR-150? Would I be able to let the harmony be set up as a media center remote and let hip handle all the button mappings?

You have lots of options here.

You can set up a learning remote to send the same keys as the MCE.
You can use HIP to Learn any code from your remote (and use a prebuilt code for a DVR/PVR)

You can ditch HIP by setting up your learning remote with MCE remote codes then set the config option for the mce remote. (In the config app).

As far as remote's go I can suggest One-for-All remotes. The 8910 is popular among some of us. You can download new codes over the phone or use JP1 (an updgade tool) to add/reconfigure codes for the remote. Search 8910 remote in this forum to see what I mean.

My current set up looks like this:

OneforAll 8910 with Hauppauge 45 button remote codes configured via JP1, with a MCE receiver, and HIP to control GBPVR. I stuck with the Hauppague codes because they seem to work better in GBPVR and if I walk into the room that has my MVP I don't need another remote. I can just carry the same one room to room.
GBPVR Server:
AMD Sempron 3300+, 1gb DDR, 100, 200 & 500gb HDDs, DVD -/+RW PVR150 RETAIL, PVR150MCE.
GBPVR 1.0.16, SKIN'S = Default Blue, PLUGIN'S = None
