Hello?! Anybody using HVR1300 with analog part? Am I the only one who has problems with it?

Sub, Please have a look at my last thread:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=15007

...any suggestions? Could somebody post here working configuration (gbpvr.mdb)?

Server: homemade (ASUS MB, AMD x2 5200+, 4G RAM, 3.2TB RAID5, 1Gbit) + DVB-T Hauppauge HVR1300 (h264 TS) + IPTV
Clients: ASUS Pundit-R (P4 3.2GHz Northwood!, 1G RAM, zero HDD - netboot, WinLIRC to use Hauppauge remote on system without Hauppauge devices) + IBM ThinkPad T42 (pvr over 802.11g) + FSC N560 WM6 (802.11g) + etc Smile

I dont think there are many people with this device, so there isnt really much knowledge about it. Infact, I think the only people that have mentioned this device are you, and Chris.Day.

If the audio is genuinely missing from recordings (not just audio decoder issues on playback), then it can only really be one of two things:
1) The crossbar audio routing failed (should show error in logs)
2) or, the device or its drivers are not including the audio stream in the MPEG2 bitstream it produce. This would be a bug in the drivers or the device itself.

Absolutely strange. Today morning I just turned PVR machine on and tried to make one more test. Concurrently recording one and the other channel. Scheduled manual recordings for 1 min and starting at the same time. Success! PVR150 recorded and HVR-1300 ("Roslyn") recorded, both resulting in fine mpeg2 stream video + audio, also playback was ok, although with one extremely strange issue. PVR150 resulted in 27MB file and "Roslyn" in 36MB file per 1 min. So, I ran mediainfo on files and what I got was surprising (see below).

[PVR 150]
General
Complete name : ETV_20060413075400.mpg
File size : 27.3 MiB
Format : MPEG 2 multiplexer
Overal BitRate : 3939 Kbps
PlayTime : 58s 80ms

Video #0
Codec : MPEG Video 2
Bit rate : 3665 Kbps
Bit rate mode : VBR
Width : 720
Height : 576
Aspect ratio : 4/3
Frame rate : 25
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.354
Delay : 400

Audio #0
Codec : MPEG Audio 1 layer 2
Bit rate : 224 Kbps
Channels : 2
Sampling rate : 48 KHz
Delay : 320
Video0 delay : -80

using MediaInfoLib - v0.6.1.1 - http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net

["Roslyn"]
General
Complete name : TV 3_20060413075400.mpg
File size : 36.2 MiB
Format : MPEG 2 multiplexer

Video #0
Codec : MPEG Video 2
Bit rate : 7000 Kbps
Bit rate mode : CBR
Width : 720
Height : 576
Aspect ratio : 4/3
Frame rate : 25
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.675
Delay : 400

Audio #0
Codec : MPEG Audio 1 layer 2
Bit rate : 224 Kbps
Channels : 2
Sampling rate : 48 KHz
Delay : 320
Video0 delay : -80

using MediaInfoLib - v0.6.1.1 - http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net

...so, as I see Roslyn has produced CBR and High-Quality instead of Medium-Quality and VBR. I am pretty sure I set up both recordings using the same quality settings.

So, how could these come with different quality settings? Could it be set for example in direct.ini quality settings different for different cards? For example Medium-Quality for PVR150 with one settings and Medium-Quality for "Roslyn" with other settings?

Also what means "GetFilterProperty - IKsPropertySet->QuerySupported property failed" in log?

This is cause. It means that drivers for this device dont use the same mechanism for changing the bitrate etc.

You could try editting direct.ini and setting the [Hauppauge Roslyn] section to set INIT_MODE=ECP. If that still doesnt work, you could try setting INIT_MODE=DEFAULT.

...and, copy the [Hauppauge Roslyn] to a new [Hauppauge HVR1300 (analog)] section to test this. Let me know how your get on, and the final settings you go with, and then I'll add the same section to the master direct.ini file.

Thanks! I'll give it a try tomorrow. I'll let you know about results.

I also have an HVR1300.

I also occxasionally lose audio, but I think its a replay issue rather than a recording issue (mainly anyway). As if I replay the video it usually then has audio. Its probably some sort of tracking between the video and audio as it usually goes wrong after a bit of skipping.

Seems like "DEFAULT" is better and at least sets bitrate correctly, although from logs with ECP it gets more info from tuner (first time I saw tuner info from HVR-1300!), but ECP doesn't handle bitrates. DEFAULT doesn't show tuner info, but could set bitrate. So, I guess the truth lies somewhere between them. So, Sub, I guess you must do some work with card init to figure out the new correctly working init type. I attach here the logs also. But still contains this "error" you mentioned above.

Btw. with default "Roslyn" settings the resulting recording mpeg stream didn't include audio track (no playback issue!)

Almost working direct.ini entry seems like:

INIT_MSP=1
SUPPORTS_FM_RADIO=1

To be honest, since I dont have one of these cards, this probably about as good as it is going to get. While its nice to see the tuner info, its only an informational message added to the logs, so doesnt really provide any useful function. It sounds like you'll need to stick to the INIT_MODE=DEFAULT.

Thanks for posting that new direct.ini section. I've added it to the master file.
