Just to clairfy something for anyone interested.

Themes just change the looks of BaseSkin. They do not change plugin support or functionality.

You need to copy over the folders from blue.

Support is comming soon....

(Edit: I am not the author of BaseSkin, but I know much about it. )

Thanks for your reply (BTW, my Mom would love your avatar; she introduced me to Benny at a young age!)

I tried installing the older version of the plugin though and this also does not show up on the menu - understand, I'm not saying they don't appear correct or they aren't skinned properly, I'm saying that while enabled they show up in the menu fine in the default skin that comes with GBPVR or any of the other standard 'old school' skins, but if I switch to BaseSkin, no matter what theme I use or whether I use "My Videos" version 4.1 (which is on the WIKI) or version 5b RC1 (which is on Reven's site) it doesn't appear as a menu item.

Since you posted in a separate reply...

...how would you account for this behavior? It simply disappears from the menu...something's affecting the plugin functionality associated with BaseSkin becuase the menu item appears when I switch back. My assumption was that I had incorrectly installed something or bolloxed up the directory structure somehow.

BTW, what is the highest version level of My Videos that BaseSkin supports, and what options might I have? Right now, appearance is secondary to functionality Smile

Thanks again for your time, I know weekends are busy for you! (See, I did read all the support threads first Big Grin )

What is the highest version level of My Videos that BaseSkin supports, and what work around options might I have?

Install RC1, copy My Series, and My Videos5, Keypad, OnScreenKeyboard folders from Blue to BaseSkin.

That should work. If not, post your gbpvr.exe.log file and I will see if it is not "plugin related".

The older versions do not work with GB-PVR 97+

Got ya. Give me a few minutes to setup and I'll check back in with the results. I did try copying over the My Videos5 dir, but not the others...that may be what I missed.

(BTW - Geez thanks for being so helpful!)

Spot on, Mate!!

I have my menu option again... Smile

That was what I had missed; I copied the My Videos5 folder from the Blue skin but not the others...in fact I hadn't realized that the OnScreenKeyboard and Keypad folders weren't part of the system (GBPVR)!

Thanks for your quick replies and great assistance; folks like yourself make OpenSource such a wonderful experience for me.

Now to start reading up on skinning...

BTW, I had one last question regarding task pane images. I know that you can assign a png to a task by naming it after the task (saw another thread on that) but the examples given were all one word menu options. This leads me to ask, which name do you use - the task's menu item name or the plugin/executable's name? If you have a plugin named email.dll but the menu option is "Check Email" would your task pane image be email_task.png or Check Email_task.png? I would think the latter but the sources I saw weren't clear.

If you have any questions, I may be able to assist. The skinning system will be getting a change in the next month or so, but that won't stop you. Check out the links in my sig.

Just put an image called task.png in each folder (in the skin's plugin folders)

If you create a custom menu button with the config app, (Like "Music Menu") you place "Music Menu.png" in the "custom" folder.

Hi

I use the Basic skin with the MCE2X-Blue theme (a great theme - thanks). With the Recordings2 plugin enabled, I cannot see the currently selected list item in the recordings list. The Recordings List Menu items are displayed fine, but the list of recordings - whilst visible, do not show the highlighted item. Is this somethings I can fix myself or does the Recordings2 skin file need updating?

Cheers Mike
