My harddrive crashed and I can't find my cd to reinstall my all in wonder card. ATI allows me to download drivers for my card, but I can't install its software without the original install disk. Will I still be able to use this program even though I don't have ati's programs on my computer (or ati's dvd decoder)?

I really want to avoid buying a new video card and tv tuner if I can right now because I'd rather wait until Vista and a new line of dual tuner HDTV cards come out.

Unfortuntaly GB-PVR doesnt support the ATI All In Wonder cards.

If you're lucky, you might be able to get it to work with this plugin: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=2753

You can download the drivers from the ATI site (as you said above). You will not be able to install the ATI dvd decoder without the original CD, but this should have little to no impact on GBPVR. AFAIK, the DVD decoder enables ATI's DVD player built into their Media Center. The rest of the driver installs just fine.

I didn't bother installing the dvd decoder on my dedicated GBPVR box, which has no mouse, keyboard or monitor attached. I don't watch DVD's through GBPVR. I don't even have a CD or DVD drive installed.

you should be able to install the drivers...authentication with the CD is only required if you want the DVD player and decoders. I've done it a couple of times now.

Also, I've just recently got my 9600xt working with GBPVR. See the link Sub sent...I've posted my specs near the end of the thread.

From one AIW user to another, here are my suggestions:
use overlay
use the cyberlink DVD player trial decoders - they don't seem to expire
use the AVIVO encoders - the MMC encoders also work
(I also still have the snapstream encoder/decoders even though it's only a trial for months.)

I'm finally rid of MMC Smile

Thanks for all the information. I downloaded a trial of beyond TV and it works great. I can't wait to upgrade to a qam tuner (or cable card tuner) so I can make full use of the big screen.

Now I just have to figure out what to use when the 21 day trial expires.

I couldn't figure out how to get GB-PVR with my card.

What is overlay?

smoloney, install the following http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=2753
build 25 (wdm software recorder) or http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugi...reRecorder

Overlay is the video renderer...if you aren't using the cyberlink decoders then you can choose vmr9 as renderer as well. Overlay just produces a much better picture for me. The tricky part is the 2nd cross bars...it will be apparent when you install the plugin...choose tuner input.

Actually the toughest part is trying to install the plugin...there's a trick. make sure you load up the plugin in the capture source tab in the config, load the zap2it or what ever you choose for your epg. Then you have to get out of the config and get back in. Then you actually configure the plugin.

Good luck. I'll keep an eye out for your posts.
