I've just found this promising application and have been trying to get it functioning on my HTPC. I've found that if I enable the IR200L remote control plugin to try and control my digital satellite receiver that the GBPVR recording service locks up when you try to view the television feed. Choosing live tv or using the guide and choosing watch both result in the lockup. I have to stop the service which results in GBPVR throwing a "cannot connect to service" error but at least it then continues.

Anyone successfully using an IR200L with GBPVR?

PS - While I understand why you leave the recording service recording (easiest way to accomodate time shifting for live tv) I find that the service runs at 60% CPU utilization or higher constantly. Is this expected and/or do you think there may be any optimizations done to lower the CPU usage? Ideally it would be very nice to have the option to stop the service from recording when the user isn't actually viewing live tv or recording a program, but isn't 100% necessary if the CPU utilization could come down some.

Thanks for a great product, it has a lot of potential.

You must be seeing some bug. On my machine, just recording results in next to no CPU usage. Less than 10%. Something must be going wrong in the recording servoce on you machine. Can you zip and email all your log files from c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr? Email them to support@devnz.com with brief description, so I can relate them to this question.

This should also give me some clues whats going wrong with the IR200L for you.

I'm using an IR200L on my "production/lounge" PC and it works well for me.

I need to be bumped from time to time. Sometimes its just easier for me to forget a question if I dont have an answer.

Unfortunately there was nothing obvious in your logs. I assume you're connected to the right comport (sorry, had to ask).

Does it seem to successfully learn your remote in the config app? Can you send me the file that you've generated? I'll try that file on my IR200L.

Actually it was not being successfully learned in the config program.  I found that the Windows XP default IR200L driver had been installed (probably during one of my late night let's-try-everything-we-can-to-get-this-f'ing-thing-working sessions [Image: tounge.gif] ) so I uninstalled it.  I was able to use the IR200L to successfully learn my remote.

Now the error I get when trying to view live TV with the IR200L plugin enabled is "Error: Failure playing back file".

Okay I've gotten rid of the "Error: Failure playing back file" by explicitly setting my Video and Audio Decoders to the Hauppage decoders for my PVR-250.  I can get the source video up now with full audio.

I'm not able to get my IR200L to change the channels on my reciever though... sooooo close. [Image: smile.gif]
