Whenever I watch 2 HD channels in particular my PC locks up anywhere between 30sec to 4min of HD Live TV. I've been messing with decoders and muxers quite a bit trying to fix this (I have no idea what I'm doing with them). I've tried unlocked SAF, nvidia pure video, ATI Muxer, ArcSoft decoder, and AC3 Filter. I'm pretty sure my hardware isn't lacking but here are my PC specs:

WinXP 32bit
AMD 3400+ (2.2Ghz)
MSI 240 GT
2GB Ram
HVR 2250

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciate. Also I have it set to VMR9 Fullscreen Exclusive. I also included my logs from before I had to do a hard reset when it last locked up on me.

you could check what the processor is doing while playing back (I know it's a pain when FSE, becasue you can't alt-tab between them)

I'm not sure what type of processor 1080 video requires for mpeg2, but you may not be getting DXVA, and as a result your cpu is a little underpowered.

Or, there is something in the stream that the player does not like?

How would I be able to see the CPU usage? Would it be similar if I run it windowed pretty much filling the screen? Also is there a way to know for sure if I'm getting DXVA?

I opened task manager and ran PVRX2 in windowed mode and it locked up again. When I first started it the CPU usage jumped up to 100% for a second but didn't go over 35% after I started LiveTV.

Try using Cyberlink for both mpeg2 and h264 video. Nvidia and Intervideo work well for audio(Both mpeg and ac3). Keep using vmr9.

After you install the 2 Cyberlink decoders open the Config, select the decoders in the drop downs, click on the buttons with "..." to the right of the drop downs and make sure the "Use DXVA" check box is marked.

There is also a way to get EVR to work with XP. I bet you could find it on google if your interested.

EVR with XP is a losing battle. don't try it... it looks pretty nice but you will suffer in other areas and you will find asking questions of your problems is related to trying to use EVR without hardware acceleration and the operating systems it is meant for (not XP). If you have XP stick with VMR9.

What should I select for the 3 decoders below the h.264 decoder in the advanced codec area?

TV in the US does not use H.264 or AAC so you don't really need to worry about it unless you have .ts files with H.264/AAC in your video library. Other filetypes won't matter (mkv, etc)

I left everything below the H264 drop down on the system defaults. There are many H264 ts files and many x264 mkv files in my library that work very well with Cyberlink decoders.

I tried those settings and it still locked up. The video freezes and the audio goes into an infinite stutter. Does it matter that it appears to only happen with CBS HD and NBC HD?
