Comskip to create chapter markers for ripped MPEGs

Guys,

This has probably been covered before..

I rip DVDs to MPEG2 for playback on my MVP. I'd like to have some method of chapter skipping. I would imagine that DVD chapter markers could be converted to a comskip .TXT file, which would at least let me skip forward to the next chapter point..

Is anyone doing this?

Good idea, not something that comskip would create though. It should be pretty easily doable by reading the appropriate ifo file and converting that to the txt file.

Well..

I found ChapterXTractor (http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=ChapterXtractor) on Videohelp.com. It makes a nice list of frames where chapter breaks occur.

Its should be trivial to throw together a script that would use that list to build something that the GBPVR player thinks came from Comskip.. looks like the player needs a range of frames (from-to) that constitute a commercial break. And, the skip function seems to work only when the current frame is within a range, so the final output would need to be something like this:

10000 20005
20006 30066
30067 40999
41000 47000
etc.etc.

I'll give it a shot and post anything I come up with here..
