Ok, when i watch TV through LIVE TV and there is a lot of movement, you can see a ghosting effect. Its not severe, but its quite irritating compared to normal TV.

Is there any way i can reduce this? e.g by using a skin that is light on the ram/cpu?

Specs in sig.

Is you're deinterlacing setting set to 'encoder pass-through'? It should be. If not, you can see horizontal deinterlacing artifacts with movement.

Otherwise, it might be the decoder you're using.

How can i check what the de-interlacing is configured to? I haven't touched anything like that yet but i do see some artifacts sometimes.

Also, what decoder do you suggest i use?

Thanks

Oh, and also the picture quality i get back onto the TV is not good as the TV itself when its running. Is that normal? Or can something be done about it.

Thanks

Edit: Also, how can i got my SKY input set to a channel, when i go on it i cannot record because there is no EPG for it. How can i record on this, is there a way around it?

Its a setting in the config app on the misc page. It's encoder passthrough by default.

Here is a screenshots with no deinterlacing so you can see if thats your problem: http://www.dscaler.com/screenshots/index.htm

Sorry, I dont answer this question anymore. Its been discussed a million times in the past.

There will always be some loss of quality from the original signal since its going from analog->digital->analog. That said, I can notice very little difference between real TV and the picture produced by GB-PVR.

Usual causes of a poor picture are quality of the tv out on your video card, or the choice of video decoder.

You really need a proper EPG with channels to use GB-PVR. You can do manual recordings if you dont have listings, but this generally sucks.

Ah, Ok, Thank you so much sub you answered alot of my questions.

Does anyone else have any useful insights into what decoder is good to use?

Thanks again

Oh, and i forgot mate, how is this possible if you have sky coming in through a co-ax cable into your TV card, as it only shows up as one channel. You need an IR blaster, but is it possible to make the channels show up on the guide, rather than just under the chanel called "SKY" on 69 which i configured?

Hope you understand what im trying to say.

Edit: What is VMR or VRM whatever, and what should i put mine to? look at my machine
