On April 19th, 2006, I asked you guys if anybody had experience with remotecontrolling the TDC Selector box (Sagem casema 4210, which actually is a DVB-C tuner). There where no replies so I had to go figure it out on my own.
The conclusion is, that a simple IR circuit (I bought a assambled one) that was connected to the serial port (controlled by WinLIRC) did not work (I tried everything). I then bought a USB-UIRT and IT WORKS as a charm.
I should mention, that I use the IR receiver on my Hauppauage PVR-350 to control GB-PVR and USB-UIRT is used purly to send signals to the TDC Selector box.
Using the TDC Selector box (DVB-C tuner) gives two major advantages:
- True 16:9 picture on DR1, DR2 and TV2 (other channels transmits in 16:9 on the analog band aswell).
- Digital picture quality on 'noise' in the picture.
So now you know
