I have used the tunning assistant and I have identified all the channels and frquencies that I wish to use. I would love to put them into GBPVR and in order to try to do so I have downloaded the Fre2reg.exe and the freq2xml.exe. I have created a .txt file which looks like this

# UPC cable frequencies New Zealand
# format: <preset number> <frequency in Hz> <channel ID> "<channel name>"

1 55250000 01 "ONE"
2 175250000 02 "TWO"
3 196250000 03 "TV3"
4 210312500 04 "C4"
5 775312500 07 "Prime"
6 631312500 06 "Triangle"
7 647312500 08 "Maori"
8 759312500 05 "Juice"
9 799312500 09 "AltTV"

I have placed the command line " freq2reg < mypresets.txt > presets.reg " as described in the readme which came with the two .exe files into a command prompt window and pressed enter. The result of which gives me the message " the system cannot find the file specified". What have I done wrong?

1- make sure you got the name right
2- do you have all in the same dir (including the exe) otherwise you will have "path-issues".

The freq2reg.exe and the mypresets.txt are in the same dir. All are in desktop. Do i need to run from the command prompt available when booting or is the windows command prompt window ok? It says C:\Documents and Settings\Neil> after which I put the freq2reg < mypresets.txt > presets.reg . Have I done this correctly? All file names and .exe are correct

You have to run the prompt from the same dir as where the files are. Changing dir in a dos box is abit difficult with all the long names. So I would put everything in e.g c:\temp. Open a dosbox and go there.

If you don't have to many channels, you can directly type them into the GBPVR configurator. Do make sure the names used are identical to the ones used in XMLTV

Either do what pz1 suggests above, or if you set your settings to New Zealand/Cable, you'll be able to get the channel number for all these channels via the tuning assistant. The antenna tuning option for NZ doesnt cover all the channels. The Cable option does.

All working now thank you it was so easy. I found the instructions not very clear. It is very easy to scan using tuning assistant and then manually put the frequencies into the Config box.
