I have been manually archiving the movies that I record. VideoArchive detected all the programs in my s:\tv folder which are the episodic recordings. I move the videos to r:\tvmovies, remove the time/date info, and the folder, and update the database manually. VA did not detect those movies. What would you suggest I do to get it to recognize them?

My intent is to use this to archive the movies without having to manually update the database. I added the r:\tvmovies to the archive folders in the config of VA. Am I right in my thinking?

Thanks,

Matt

PS I love the watched flag! Is there a chance you could have the db connect string in the config? I converted to msde and it might be nice to migrate the Video Arcive db there too.

If you define the folder in the config app first and then move the files while gbpvr is running it should automatically detect the file move and update. If you moved the files before adding it to the list of monitored folders or moved the files while GBPVR was not running you will need to press F11 (GO on the remote) to rescan the list. You can look in the archiver-MVP.log pr archiver-PC.log and you should see it detect and react to file move events.

They existed in that folder prior to the installation of the plug-in. The recordings menu in gbpvr is able to play them from the new location... I tried archiving a show to see how things act. I noticed that it creates folders for each title. I do not have those folders in the new location. Everything is in the directory as .mpg's (because they are movies and I won't have more than one of the "series"). Do I have to place them in folders to be detected? (and update the database to reflect the change)

Thanks,

Matt

Are you saying that all of your video files are in the "root" of your recordings directory?

Also, you should never have to manually update the database.

yes, they are... atleast what I have manually archived. The database I am modifying is the gbpvr database. I found that as soon as I create a folder named after the movie (as gbpvr would) it starts to search for files there. And if I move the mpg into that folder it then downloads an icon for it. If I have to create folders for every movie, then that is fine.

Thanks,

Matt

If you check the "Auto-create folders when recording" check box on the Misc tab of the config app gbpvr will create the sub foldrs for you automatically.

That is what I have. I was removing them on the movies because there is no comskip stuff, and no other "episodes"

I have a similar problem, I guess. VA will not recognize recognize recordings I already have. I did a clean install of v97.7 and VA, and pointed it to the directory that I keep my movies in, but they don't show up. Sutff that I've added since installing VA will show up, but not anything prior. If I remove the movies from that directory and then copy them back, they'll show up, but once I hit f11 or restart GBPVR, they disappear again. I looked at the ArchiveDB-PC log after trying to do a rescan, I saw this error alot:

"06/08/06 02:22:47:171 AM[1] Rejected request to add record for E:\WOPR\- Movies -\Spinal Tap.mpg; record was specified without a Name field"

Any idea what's causing this behavior?

Also, VA does not recognize the movie posters that are already in the directory, and always downloads its own.

I should clarify that these things only happen in my movies archive, which is all dvdrips and downloads. All my GBPVR recordings show up just fine in VA.

I've included my logs if those'll help...

I have an update that I think may fix the problem that I'd like you to try but for some reason uploads to the wiki are failing for me right now. If you send me a PM with your email address I can send it to you.

Tried the VA update. I uninstalled the previous version first. I got an installation error saying it couldn't open commongbpvrutilities.dll, so I deleted it and let it install a new one. When I fired up GBPVR for the first time and went into VA, all my movies were showing. I hit f11 to rescan the directories, and the complete list remained, as opposed to disappearing which is what it used to do. However, none of the movies had summary information, so I ran getdvdinfo, and the list disappeared.
