Ok sub, I can understand not developing for slower system. I mean it´s plain evolution. I got my PVR350 2 years ago and one of the key factor was hardware encoding/decoding. Your app is the best in my opinon and I am only writing about this because I lack the funds to build my dream htpc and for now my pIII is the coolest and thereby the most silent pc (OK not the coolest but sertainly cooler that any athlon/p4, although i have no experience from the cool and quit technology from AMD).

You spoke about transparency and doesn´t that mean you could write (configure) a skin that is more responsive to a slow spec system, or is it hard coded?

My point is that maybe some people would like the option to not have all the fancies and instead the ability to have a more responsive system (and quiet).

Sorry, its just not that simple. I used to try to conditional disable the fancy stuff (anti-aliasing, transparency etc) if a flag was set in the config.xml, but it started to make the code really ugly, so I ripped it all out many months ago.

OK, I will drop it. I guess I can live with the little slower resonse til I get a better system. I am saving/waiting for a centrino desktop system. I think it will be a hit.

Keep up the good work.

If you want a COMPLETELY silent system, I've found that the only way to do this is to put the whole thing as far away from the TV as possible. I have mine sitting in the back corner of the basement, between the washing machine and the furnace. Even though the thing is loud (it has three hard drives, a cheap CPU fan and a generic power supply) I can't hear it at all from the living room. The only piece that's sitting in the living room is that little black remote control sensor thingy that comes with the PVR-350; and that makes no noise at all [Image: smile.gif]
