Hello,

Can someone tell me what is used from .net 2 in the new version of the EWA? I am wanting to run this from an Apache server, but they have not released a 2.0 ASP module yet. I have found I can use XSP from mono - but they currently only support these methods:
Current features:

Client callbacks.
New Configuration engine (partial)
New controls:
ButtonField
CheckBoxField
DetailsView
FormView
GridView (client and server side sorting)
HyperlinkField
ImageField
Menus
MultiView
TemplateField
Trees
View
Masterpages
Two-way bindings
ObjectDataSource

Can anyone tell me if this is sufficient to run the EWA code under apache, or will I run into errors?

Thanks

There is litterally a mix of lots of stuff......off the top of my head I don't think it is using anything that is missing there....

I can recommend this free .Net 2.0 server as an alternative. It is a more robust version of the Cassini Server that ships native with GBPVR.

How UltiDev Cassini Web Server is Different from Original Cassini?
Here are features present in UltiDev Cassini, but not in the original MS Cassini:
  • Comes ready for distribution with Visual Studio ASP.NET applications.
  • Runs as a windows service;
  • Hosts and runs multiple ASP.NET applications;
  • Provides Management UI and simple API for configuring web applications;
  • Comes in two flavors: 2.0 version for ASP.NET 2.0 applications, and 1.1 for applications compiled for ASP.NET 1.1.

Thanks for that - I'll give it a try.

I am hoping to run a few remote access ASP programs which I have , from a single web page - and not have to worry about the required ports being blocked by my company firewall.

I am using the .net 2.0 EWA version (42 now, but 37-38-39-40 before) through apache with the officially only .net 1.1 module for apache without any problem at all.

---well that is not entirely true. The only problem i have encoutered but never reported (sorry for that) is that I can not go to the settings page from within the local network, hence without login screen. From the internet this does work.

I would propose you backup the existing /web directory, install the newer EWA version and you will probably see it works. If not I can share my apache settings but they basically come from the wiki.

I have the default setup (no apache or whatever) and this happens to me to. I haven't tried from the internet yet, so I don't know if that is the same.
