I have been wondering if, because of all my issues, if installing MCE would be any better than Pro. My HTPC is not internet connected as I update my EPG manually.

Does anyone know if MCE is a better option using Hauppauge's 150MCE card. A store I have used has a package special of a card, the OS & the remote package. If it proves there are less issues with MCE variant then I would serioulsy consider upgrading.
HTPC:
AMD 643000+ & Zalman 7000alcu cooler
MSI K8N Neo4-f mobo
1GB DDR3200 RAM
MSI NX6600LE video card
2x Hauppauge 150MCE tuner card
40GB PATA HDD (including boot partition)
160GB SATA HDD
250GB SATA HDD
Cordless keyboard/mouse combo
WinXP Pro w SP2

Better in what way? MCE is just XP with extra stuff. IMO (having used MCE for a while) you're better off with XP Pro. I eventually reformatted my disk & installed plain XP Pro. No reason to have all that MCE junk there if you don't use it. Any problems you're having will likely still be there and may be worse. I wouldn't bother with MCE.

Thanks, Zed.

I guess I'll continue with the best of a bad situation & continue testing Happauge drivers/apps until I get it right before I go grey & bald. Ooops, too late. Big Grin
