I just installed Hauppauge 500 Dual Tuner Card. Attached are my logs. I get this error when I switched to try to watch LIVE TV. Everything else (music, tv listing from zap2it) seems to work fine so far except this. When I go to the tv listings, I see all the listings, but when I click "watch" on one, this error appears as well.

After spending nearly an hour, it turns out that this error is very general, and can mean anything. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Did you install a mpeg decoder? If so try to select it instead of "default" in config-playback tab
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

Yes, as HtV says, it could be a lack of MPEG2 decoder. Do you have one installed? If so, which one?

If its not the MPEG2 decoder, you could try switching from 'VMR9 Custom' to 'VMR9' to see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for the replys. I don't think I have a mpeg2 decoder! Any suggestions on some free ones? I downloaded one called Stinky's or something, but GB-PVR can't find it.

I switched from VMR9 Custom to VMR9 and it WORKED! To my dismay, the quality was ultra crappy! It had a flim of fuzz over the pictures. I don't know much about this, but what could cause this? Granted, I am using analog cable, but it looks much better directly connected to my tv than through my computer. I also have BEYOND TV trial, and that also have a film of fuzz, but that one looks slightly better.

There is lots of factors that come into getting a great picture - the source of your signals, the capture device you're using, the video decoders you're using, the video renderer you're using, the quality of your video card, the type of tv out connection (composite/svideo/component/DVI etc). If you use the forum search feature you'll find heaps of discussion on this topic.

I know my analog coaxial input/source isn't great, but my tv does a decent job of showing it. The input goes into my Hauppauge 500 card and the output is DVI/HDMI into my tv. I know its not that cable because my computer screen shows up very clear. So the only thing is either the capture card or the video decoder/renderer I'm using (based on what you mentioned). I am running Hauppauge 500 on Windows XP, and the Hauppauge came with ridiculously simple instructions that doesn't help at all. that's why this whole ordeal has been very difficult...more than it should be.
