I just added it to my computer and all works great if I am on my home network. The issue I am having is I trying to stream from outside my home network (the web page works great) the stream tries to use my IP address on my computer that is not accessible from the internet. How do I get it the use my DSL modem IP address or mine DNS web address for my home? This is what I use to get to the web page now.

Have you got the port open on your firewall/router?

I think the default is 7648

Edit: Moved to more appropriate forum

Thanks for moving this to the correct forum. I did not realize where I opened it.

Yes I do the issue is the file it pass back to start the streaming has the IP of my computer not my DSL modem. I need to tell the web admin the IP of my router so the far end computer on the internet can find it.

The stream.vlc file has
#EXTM3U
http://192.168.2.199:7648

The IP is from my internal network.

I have been searching the forum but have not yet found the answer yet. Maybe I am not searching on the right key words but there are so many large threads on the web admin.!

I really want to get this to work and see how well it works on my Sprint palm P700. It would be cool to watch my recordings on it.

I figured it out. I had to edit the Player.aspx.cs.
in that file there is a variable serverAddr that pulls the IP from your machine.
serverAddr = serverIP + ":" + guideParams.strmPort;

I had to change it to my desired URL.

serverAddr = "your address.no-ip.com:" + guideParams.strmPort;

Unless you are using a static IP address from your high speed provider this will not work. I use NO-ip's software to resolve this to my home network.

The only other way I was able to get this to work was to set my computer up in the firewall to DMZ so all traffic is open too that computer.

The next question I have is I was tiring this on my Palm P700 and I keep getting a bad formatted header error. I can see it connecting to the stream and when it starts to buffer I get this error. I have tried all the Streamer Video/Audio/Mux option and Stream Player options.

If anyone has any ideas let me know.

FYI

I just tried this streaming on a Sprint Samsung phone with windows mobile and it error on that phone two.

You shouldn't need to hack the code...this is what you need to do:

You need to create an account (it is free) on dyndns.org. This account will allow you to have a dns name for your PC that will remain constant even though your IP address changes whenever your ISP changes your IP.

On your router set your GBPVR PC to have a statis ip address.

On your router forward the EWA port that you set in the gbpvr config (default 7647) to point to the IP of your GBPVR PC.

On your router forward the Streamer port that you set in the EWA config to the IP of your GPBVR PC.

On you GBPVR PC open the two ports on your filrewall that is running on your GBPVR PC (or at least should be....)

If your router has the capability to update dynamic DNS sites such as dyndns.org then set it to auto-update your account....if your router does not support this install an update program on your GBPVR PC that will keep your account updated for you.....I use this one.

You should now be able to access the EWA and stramer running on your gbpvr pc from anywhere on the internet using your dyndns.org account name. Example: http://mydyndnsaccount.org:7647/gbpvr/guide.aspx

Let me know if you have trouble.....

Hello,

VLC streaming is working perfectly, but there's one problem. My friends who stream over the internet only see the first 3 or 4 seconds of a recording, whereas I don't have this streaming issue on my LAN. Any ideas? Could if be a configuration issue? I have looked high and low on the forum for users with a similiar issue to no avail.

My guess would be that your upload speed is too low. 3-4 secs would be the buffer that's loaded before starting the video.

Here are my default settings. They are set at 5 seconds, right? What would you suggest I try?

Thanks,

I have done similar thing with dyndns.org, and have been able browse the guide from anywhere, but just can't seems to stream the program. It opens the popup asking me if I want to open the external player, and I click on VLC, and everything goes, but no stream. Just want to let you know that it works great within my LAN behind my DSL/Firewall, but I can't stream from outside.

I was not sure when you were saying that you have to have atleast two port open up? Where do you set that? I think TCP Port 7647 is where you talk to WebAdmin, and browse guide, and look at your recordings. I have looked at the config of WebAdmin, it is set to 7647 as streaming port. You can't have streaming and guide on the same port can you?
