I use birtles grabber to get UK and irish TV channels in one file. i use the SS2recorder plugin for SKY FTA UK channels, i have an PVR 500 for the four Irish standard TV channels.

So, in the config program, when i try to configure the PVR 500 for just the irish channels, when i hit the update EPG, it adds all the channels in the xmltv file. When i remove the UK channels from the list of channels and update again, i still get all the Uk channels added. So i must be doing something wrong.

For now, i manually create two seperate xmvtv files, one for Uk and one for Irish, but how do i get it to work with just one file?
Intel P4 2500 mhz, 1.25G Ram, XP Home SP2, Maxtor 30Gb and WD 200gb drives, PVR-500MCE, DM500s, dboxrecorder, GBPVR 1.2.9, 2 x wired MVP,

I believe that's the way to go. At least that's the way I do it for a similar setup.
I'm not always right

OK, i least i know now.

just looked at birtles again, saw that you can run it with different settings (see text below), so thats all working neat now, it generates the two files.

thanks

--------------------------------------

"Make a copy of the settings directory and rename it to a name of your choice (no spaces allowed) e.g. something like alt_setttings
Run the program with the parameter /c followed by the name of the directory you just created e.g. XmltvGUI /calt_setttings
Running the program normally will now use a seperate set of settings to when the program is run using the above command line "

No - this is exactly how it's supposed to work. What you need to do, however, is to simply disable the channels that you don't want. Once they're disabled, GB-PVR wont attempt to schedule any recordings for the disabled channel for that cap. source.

This is exactly what I do with my system - I have analogue and digital cap. cards. I use one xmltv file but have disabled all the digital channels on my analogue cap. sources.

Cheers,
Brian

Ok, i get it now. i'm so stupid. Just spent ages getting the batch file syntax correct for the / switch parameter. LOL. i might stick to doing it this way as it is very clear what channels the card can use.

just in case anyone wants to know, a two line batch file is all thats needed.

"C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\xmltvconsole.exe" /Grab /calt_settings
"C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\xmltvconsole.exe" /Grab
