PVR-350 drivers - are they necessary

I'm about to order a PVR-350, and I've read that their software is pretty much crap. Are any of the Hauppauge drivers or software necessary or will the GB-PVR software handle all this for me?

It still relies on the Hauppauge drivers, so they've got to be installed. Sorry.
