Searching function

I use GB-PVR with Zap2it to obtain the TV listings. I really like the GB-PVR format as compared to the commercial options I have seen. The one thing that the commercial options seem to have the GB-PVR doesn't is the ability to search by category: movies, sports, drama, etc. Zap2it has just added such a feature to their on-screen line up that displays on my regular computer so it would be very nice if it also displayed on the GB-PVR display.

I agree completely, genre search is such an important feature!
If you don’t need this feature “on your TV”, the enhanced web admin has it.
I've been watching your post, waiting, and waiting, for any reply..
I’m not sure if people just don’t understand what it does, or if they truly don’t want “genre search” for some strange reason? :confused: Either way, most posts requesting this feature get very few views, and even fewer replies…

Personally, I have this feature in gbpvr. It’s admittedly a very silly/cheesy way of getting the job done, but in practice it is –extremely- handy and simple to use.

I haven’t decided if I should release it as a feature in TVGuideSupercharger / I-xmltv. But if you would like to try it, and feel comfortable installing a utility and a plugin, let me know and I’ll get you a copy.

The show search plug-in (http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/ShowSearch) has the capability to search by zap2it category (movie, episode, sports, or everything). It does not break that down by genre however.

Hi Jeff,
I downloaded that last night while looking around on the wiki. I’ll load it up and give it a try when my recordings finish up later this evening.
Hey, I noticed (on the wiki) you said you were open for suggestions with the utility.
Genre search (using a list) & searching a list of user-defined favorite genre’s would be awesome!
