I've read a couple threads on the PVR500 having some difficulties on the second tuner with picture quality, so I want to confirm if this is indeed my problem. I have a PVR150 and a PVR500 in my system, the 150 gets great picture quality on all channels, the PVR500 tuner #2 is half snowy on channel 2, and the snow gets less on ch 3, even less on 4, and on up to where ch 7/8 are pretty good quality. The PVR500 tuner #1 exhibits similar behavior, but not nearly as bad, it is watchable. I thought maybe it is a signal problem due to my running a 4-way splitter from the wall, which then goes to the PVR system. I plugged the PVR500 directly into the wall, and the picture does get a bit better, but ch 2 is still snowy. Even behind the splitter the 150 is great (I know the 500 has a built in splitter which will further degrade quality, but it still does it directly plugged into the wall).

Could this be a case of a faulty card or could possibly installing an in-line amplifier help the situation? I've already replaced all of the cables with high quality gold plated cables and it is still snowy, updated to the latest drivers, etc. Thanks.

My 150 does the same thing, ch 3, 4, are pretty much unusable. 5 and 6 are better and by the time I get to 11 or 12 the picture is perfect. I thought it was odd too.

I haven't looked into yet, I have been too busy. I was going to check how they looked in the tuning assistant... but I don't know what that would really do for me. Big Grin

I have a 150 and a 500 in my system. The 150 and one of the tuners on the 500 work great on all channels. The other tuner on the 500 is very snowy on all channels as if it has a bad antenna connection. It seems to me that when I first installed the 500 it worked fine but I had the dreaded 'timestamp' problem so upgraded to new drivers that fixed the timestamp problem but then I had a problem with the one tuner. I 'fixed' it by using the 150 and the good tuner in the 500 to tune cable and used the 'bad' tuner in the 500 for svideo input for my satellite receiver. That works out fine. Some time when I feel particularly masochistic I'll try falling back to the older drivers and see if that makes any difference. I'd be a bit surprised if it's a driver issue but I'm pretty sure it worked OK at first (I was doing a lot of hardware swapping at the time and just don't remember the exact configuration). FWIW, I feed the cable into a four channel distribution amp, one output of which goes to a two-way splitter that feeds the 500 and the 150. My initial plan was the have both thuners of the 500 handle the cable and feed the receiver into the 150 via svideo.
