wannabepvr has it right on the head - i've had shows cut off in the middle that i'd scheduled weeks prior (recurring)... i thought it was odd that there was so much BS at the beginning of the recording but i just FF thru it... but just as the show is almost over and you're about to reach the height of the plot, BAM you're back at the main menu, thinking "hey, who stopped the show?" and like wannabe, i also replayed the recording to see what happened. first time it happened, i figured there had been a power failure, as the recording happened while i was not at home, and the pc is set to power on after power loss in the bios. second time it happened, it was too coincidental.
i think tivo's reasoning for putting it there is, like stefan said - to delete the recording after you're done watching it, because that's what i usually do anyway. helps keep the disk from filling up too quickly. it makes for fewer clicks and menu navigation to delete it once you're done with it.
the suggestion for a third option "copy to archive and delete original" would also be great. i don't think a DB change would be necessary for this, as my "archive" is a network drive that i have mapped in the 'my videos' section anyway.
