When playing recorded shows, I've always had sporadic openings in a seperate "ActiveMovie Window", I then went in and changed and chaged back some settings and it started to work as it's supposed to again.

But now I seem to be stuck with always getting playback of MPEG-2 in a separate window. I saw some mentioning of codec issues (that I did not understand) but that was for Divx/Xvid in this thread

Could anyone enlighten me?

Live TV works ok.

If you've got the Cyberlink decoder selected (or its you system default), and you're using VMR then you'll get this. The Cyberlink decoder isn't compatible with VMR.

Try another decoder or switch to Overlay instead of VMR.

Thanks,

I only have the InterVideo Decoder, but switching to Overlay did work.

A minor issue is that the mouse does not seem to work to click on buttons in Overlay mode, but I'm also using the Hauppage remote control and that works, so this is just a small annoyance.

I just found a driver update on Hauppage regarding Intervideo, (http://www.hauppauge.com/html/sw_pvr_250.htm), but there are no dates on that page so I don't know if they apply :-(.

There are also links to Hauppage Video decoders on that page, can I use those?

How does this Video codec/VMR thingy really work? Which codec are you using? Any links/info for a beginner like me is appreciated.

I have Windows Media Player 9, PVR-250.

Is there a difference if you use VMR and select 'system default' vs 'Intervideo' explicitly?

I'm using the most recent PVR250 drivers from http://www.shspvr.com, and my Intervideo decoder is compatible with VMR. If you're running the original drivers supplied with your hardware, you may want to upgrade.

Sorry, I dont really have any links about this stuff.

When I first started GP-PVR, with "system default" selected I got two windows. Selecting "Intervideo" fixed it. But when I had mixed it back and fourth a couple of times it was more sporadic when I got it (probably due to the fact that I was also playing with VMR on/off).

I have original driver so I'll try an upgrade.

Thanx
