BACKGROUND
I've eventually got my system more or less configured. It's a little complex, so let me explain that first.

My terrestrial TV signal, and my Digital set top box signal are sent round all the rooms in my home on regular co-axial.Channels 1-5 have been configured to internal tuner-aerial, and work perfectly (as does recording etc). The cable signal is set to the same capture source, but with a fixed channel, external tuner through the aerial.

The trick I can't manage is getting my digital set top box to change channel for recordings. I'm not sure which bit of the system I need to change.

My ntl Cable box is a Pace 2000, so I need a redeye to convert the irDa signal to regular RC5 ( or whatever). I know this works, as a regular remote now operates the channel changing on the box.

Because the HTPC is in a different room to the set top box, the signals are sent from room1 to room2 through a Marmitek Pyramid signal sender. I know this works too.

I have connected my USB-UIRT to the computer and this seems to work, as it has learned the signals, and I have the file saved, and lights flash at the appropriate times.

RECORDING PROBLEM

When I wish to record from the cable box, the UIRT blaster does send out a message - unfortunately, this message seems to be confused, and I'm not getting the right channel. Having looked here, at the RedEye site, and at the USB_UIRT site, I'm not quite clear where the problem lies.

Does anyone have any suggestions [Image: rock.gif]

Set up two capture sources, one for your regular 5 channels and the other for your STB, then in the epg data set the channel numbers to correspond to your cable channels.

Huw, can you please clarify

When you say "set up 2 capture sources", this I believe I have done.

Both are set to Capture Source 1, and both are set to 'aerial' as the input ( albeit one being a fixed channel, and the others being tuned by the PVR as and when required), so I have two lines under the one capture source.

Are you saying I should set the second signal source ( e.g. the STB) to Capture Source 2 which doesn't theoretically exist on my machine, or am I right in thinking I've got it right
so far (i.e. one capture card with 2 sources within it - albeit both through the co-axial areial connection)?

If so, I can now narrow down the search to the signal sending by the UIRT.

Thanks

Is the Pace IrDa, or is this a redeye thing? Please try to describe this again.

I'd say that you're probably doing to many translations to the IR signal, and by the time it gets to the Pace box its almost correct but not quite within it's acceptable tolerances.

Most STBs or cable boxes show the numbers as they're being entered. Do you ever see any numbers that look correct?

UPDATE :

The connection is as follows, based on an ntl Pace d2000 STB - one of the ones which use iRDA signals.

RedEye placed on STB
Philips remote bought to work STB without iRDA signal (works)
Marmitek Pyramid bought to send signal from Room B to Room A (works)
usb-UIRT connected to computer (flashes)
channel changer trained by Philips remote (accepted)
usb-UIRT sends signals into Marmitek to broadcast to the STB

Where I am presently is that I have now confirmed that the usb-UIRT is changing channels. However, it is not changing appropriately. For example I got channel 92 rather than 922. Consequently, I suspect that the issue is with the timings / delay betwen signals ( which I think is a known problem). I'm now going to see if that will fix it.

At the same time ( co-incidental with the signals working), the Hauppauge remote isn't working properly, but I'm assuming that's an easy fix.

I'll keep you informed of where I end up

Thanks for the help so far

check your setting for the USBUIRT in GBPVR config.

Enable all the checkboxes, ie zero pad, send enter, and use 3 digits

Problem nearly solved.

I've narrowed down the problem to the fact that te USB-UIRT is sending out the channel signals too quickly for my STB. All I need to do now, is find out how to put a delay between the remote flashes. And I've logged that question into the USB-UIRT forum

Thnaks for the help

Search the forums for InterCodeDelay or RepeatCount. These are tweaks you can add to the USB-UIRT ir files.
