Quote:The tearing during pans can only be remedied by the setting the VMR9 into exclusive mode. I believe sub is working on this.
Just so people dont get there hopes up from this comment - I did look into it briefly a couple of releases back but decided against support for it. There were some complications that meant it wasnt going to integrate smoothly with GB-PVR's GDI+ based interface without massive changes. It wasnt worth the effort required.

I have the same issue with jerky HDTV. I installed BeyondTV just to see if it made a difference and when I tried to select anything other than Overlay with my HD card it threw up a warning saying that it can cause issues with HDTV. There must be an issue with VMR9 and HDTV.

When I switched GBPVR to Overlay the jerky video dissapeard. It doesn't look as good though.

There is also an issue with nVidia cards going black when overlay mode is runing. Actually not sure if it's the driver or PureVideo, but I can't seem to use overlay without creating a whole other issue.

My machine is studdering again after a day of fairly smooth video. I didn't do anything to it, so as others have noted, the problem is highly variable and does not tie into anything a user did to the machine.

I'm thinking that it's happening with very short spikes in processor use (too short to show up on the Task manager graph). Because HD is so intensive, it doesnt take much to upset the apple cart, and theres a lot more apples to put in after it spills Big Grin

The PureVideo site by the way only recommends running HD on a dual core processor (PureVideo HD spec). Mine should be here tomorrow and I will report back.

I couldn't afford a Core 2 Duo, but a Pentium D at 3.2 GHz should tell me something. Others seem to have luck with dual cores...

The fight goes on...

Can you zip and attach your gbpvr.exe-native.log when this happens so I can take a look.

One of my machines did this - black screen whenever I tried Overlay, and it was oddly caused by the Mainconcept (MCE) MPEG2 Encoder filter installed with some of the Hauppauge software. Deregistering the filter corrected the problem. Your logs would tell me if its the same problem.
