Hi,

Is there a way that I can extend a recording without having to record the next scheduled show? For instance, a football game is going long and I want to catch the end of the game. I want to extend the time by 1 hour and have this added to the current mpg file, not a new one that I then have to join.

Thanks.

The solution to this is to do schedule a Manual recording.....you pick the start time and end time.....could be 10 minutes could be 30....whatever you want.

The Manual Recording link is at the top of the Guide next to the Color Coding link.

I understood this as being able to extend a recording in progress.

Sorry I wasn't clear, but yes it is to extend a recording already in progress.

you might want to put this in the general support forum, or wishlist. theoretically you should be able to change the end time of a recording while it is in progress, although I am not sure how the recording service works. it might only check the database for the recording information at the very start of the show, and then hold that in memory, which would make it harder.

That would just get ugly.....think about trying to code for the situation where you have 3 tuners all scheduled to record something.....then someone changes the end time of one of the recordings....now GBPVR would have to possibly reshuffle tuners that are slated to record shows.....

I know I wouldn't want to code it.....Wink

I see it much simpler - yes the logic would provide more power, but why not just extend the time if that tuner is not busy during the time extension, otherwise error out (like if I schedule to record a show that results in a conflict).

I am a developer as well and understand your statement, though I'm sure you appreciate the need for such a feature.
