Hi,

I've got a Hauppauge Nova-T USB2 running under winXP (in the UK).

My problem is this:
When I try to watch or record a program on any of the BBC channels (BBC1,BBC2,BBC3,BBC4), I get a black screen (livetv) or an empty recording. The channels work perferctly well when using Hauppauge's WinTV2000 player.

The strangest thing is that I can get the BBC channels to work in GB-PVR if I repeatedly swap between one of the BBC channels and any of the others that work (e.g. channel4). After doing this 4 or 5 times, the BBC channel usually appears and the other BBC channels are available if I jump directly to them. However, if I change to a non-BBC channel, I have to go through the process again for the BBC's to work.

The BBC channels don't appear in the channel listings when I do the initial channel scan (in config), but appears immediately if I rescan for channels. I'm not sure that reception strength is the issue here, as the channels come in clearly without any chopping or spikes when they first appear. Additionally, scanning for channels in WinTV2000 finds the BBC channels imediately without any problems.

This isn't a new problem as it has been like this since I first started using GB-PVR, 3 releases ago. As a result, I am using GB-PVR as the first tool for watching/recording all the non-BBC channels and WinTV for watching the BBC channels.

Thanks for your help

How is your signal strength?

If you configure you setup to use VMR9 Custom, then view one of the BBC channels and get this black screen, then press Ctrl-O, what does it say the signal strength and quality are?

The quality bar shows nothing, and the strength bar shows 100%.
If I leave it for a short period at the black screen it says no signal found.

After switching channel back and forth once, I received BBC perfectly. It still shows nothing on quality and max on strength.

I'm not really sure. If you zip and attach the logs I'll see if I can see anything obvious.

I've not seen other reports that sounds like this same problem.

I've attached the logs.

I see that it reports a signal strength of only 10 for BBC1 as well as quality -4, yet the reception is perfect once it locks on (the lock never breaks either). Also says signal quality -4 and signal strength -100 on BBC2, but the reception is again perfect.
