irremote.ini and the MVP

I can see in the "debug.txt" window that if I point the remote at the capture card, the irremote.ini file is being processed, and I can remap those signals.
If I point the remote at the MVP, the irremote.ini file is not being processed, so I can't remap those signals. Is there any way to configure the system so that IR signals thru the MVP can be remapped with irremote.ini or any other method?
