OK forgive me if I missed this some where, But heres the story;

Specs:

Windows XP Pro
Happauge Wintv 250
IO Digital Cable (New York) USA

Assembled and set up a PVR, Using a Happauge Wintv 250, installed and configured GBPVR (latest version), When I try to get a preview of my channels on live tv I just get static.

Now I noticed that my Happauge Wintv 250 card came with Beyond TV 3.5 Basic. So I tried that to verify my hardware was at least working. It worked after the second configuation attempt because I changed my IR Blaster to "Null Tuner" (I'm waiting for my IR Blaster to get here from PCalchemy.)

But I did get Beyond TV to work and record (I just can't change the channel while its recording - or it'll record that instead).

I'll admit the setup wizard did a good job, it even asked what type of cable I connected to the Wintv 250 from the Cable Box (S-Video)

I'm wondering if the lack of an IR Blaster is why GBPVR isn't working (I chose "No Channel Changer required). If this is where the problem is, what can I set it too till I get the IR Blaster? Thanks.

since you've mentioned you connect your cable box to your PVR250 via svideo, but you mentioning seeing static (which is only possible via the tuner, not svideo), then it sounds like you didnt set the correct source when you created you capture source. Check your settings. The source setting is a few boxes below where you set the card type.
