Ok thanks in advance for any help, I am very, very new to TV tuner cards and programs. My question is, I am looking into buying a TV card, but would like to avoid common mistakes made with new purchases. What I would like to find is a card that can record 2 shows, bring the system out of hibernation with the remote and any other annoying problems that you guys forsee me having. I will be recording from a satellite service. My computer has an amd (64) 3200, 2 gig of ram and a Nvidia 7600 gt video card. Primarily my wife wants to record her favorite shows (christmas present) so its gotta be user friendly after initial setup. Thanks again.

make sure the card you choose has an IR blaster so you can change the channels on the STB

try an MCE remote or any other remote that has USB connection...as i'm pretty sure most MB's can wake from usb activity if they can leave it's power on..
plus it has dual blasters and several options as far as setup..
[and should be lotsa help out there on getting that remote to wake up win]

First you'd need to work out what sort of feeds you have.
Cable, Sat, DVB-T, DVB-S, DSL Cable, OTA etc.

For Dual Tuner cards that do both, have a wee look at the

Well - I am having real problems getting 2 x HVR1300`s running - and they are on the list. Ones fine - two`s a nightmare.
