ATI Radeon 9600 Pro vs nVidia A6200 TDH

In my former setup I used to have an Nvidia 6200 with real 128 mb (not turbocache) and after a lot of complaints from the WAF I exchanged it for my old ATI 7500 which did a wayyyyyyyy better job. The 7500 however is borderline concerning processing power. It does tear in high speed panning scenes only which is still much better than the Nvidia 6200 was doing.

See, I found the 6200 using Overlay gave a better picture than my 7500.
Also, my 7500 had limited resolutions.
I couldn't do 720x480.

I really think it comes down to the manufacturer of the card.

I'm also using a 128MB 6200 AGP card and overlay and it looks good on my Toshiba 55" analog RPTV over svideo. I've been trying the evaluation Pure Video decoder but I can't tell any difference between it and the InterVideo decoder from Hauppague except for the CPU usage on playback...it runs about 10% with the Pure Video and about 25% with the InterVideo. It's difficult to tell playback from live.
