It seems Raven has abandoned us with his wonderful pluggin My Videos. He announced he wont have time to finish the program or make any updates, and because he used the same source code for another project he is currently working on, he wont release his source code to anyone. I must admit that was my Daily use pluggin. However, It's time to start something new. I was wondering if any programmers are feeling the same way as I am? I did a little research and the newest and most used source for TV series info is at http://tvdb.zsori.com/ where they claim
Facts about the Online TV Show Database:
* The database is currently being used by the meeTVshows plugin for MeediOS and Meedio; the MP-TVSeries plugin for MediaPortal; and a handful of smaller projects.
* The database schema and website are open source under the GPL, and are available at Sourceforge.
* I'm happy to make changes to the tv database's interfaces and data in order to accommodate programmers and users.
Other HTPC software developers are welcome to use our XML interface, as long as they follow a few guidelines:
* Every HTPC software with over 500 users must provide a mirror of the database (contact me to work out the details). Exceptions may be made at my discretion.
* Software must follow the load balancing guidelines detailed in the XML interface specifications. This basically comes down to randomly selecting a mirror.
* Users of your software must be made aware of this site's existence and asked to help update the data.
So it looks like thats where most of the other Homebrew PVRs are going to be getting their TV Series info from now on seing as it's an open invite to their libraries. All we need is a pluggin to access the info much like My Videos did with tv.com.
I mostly used My Videos for TV Shows that I added to my library, mostly store bought Tv Series, then compiled them as xvid.avi. My Videos had 1 major flaw and thats why I really can't use it as is. The problem with it was that it wouldn't show which episode number the show was, so it would sort the shows by production numbers from tv.com and if any shows were out of place you would never know unless you cross refrenced it before starting each episode.
Any ideas? Volunteers?
