I was watching a show I had recorded when one of my kids picked up my wireless keyboard. I don't know what button/s she pushed but I lost sound. Now if I try watching live tv, a recording, or a video there is no sound. I can play music ok. In gbvr, I keyed the right arrow button and see that the volume is as high as it goes. I went to master volume in windows xp and video sound is maxed. What happended and how do I fix it?

When looking for a possible solution on the forums, I realized that there was a new version of gbpvr so I've updated to the new version. This however did not fix the problem.

This was the only things that sprung to mind when I started reading your post.

The logs dont show any errors.

Well, I uninstalled and reinstalled gbpvr but that didn't help. I'm very frustrated because now all gbpvr is is an mp3 player.

Sorry, I dont always know the answer.

Have you tried switching from 'master volume' to 'local volume' in the config app.

Maybe also try deleting the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Devnz\LastVolume registry setting.

Please sub don't get me wrong. I was very frustrated. I've been using gbpvr for quite some time and have recommended it dozens of times. I love it. Although I built my htpc, I know just about enough to be dangerous. When things don't work like they should or as I understand them, I get frustrated. Yea, I had already tried the volume options in the config app.

BTW, deleting that registry setting worked!!! Thanks for the idea.

I was lurking through the forums, hoping to find the solution to my problem (no audio within GBPVR), and thanks to your suggestion (deleting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\devnz\LastVolume), everything is working again! Big Grin

You're awesome (can this please be included in some sort of GBPVR Troubleshooting Wiki?)

Thanks,

Daniel

Just thought I update this thread in case there are others who are having the same problem I did.

I recently finished configuring my PVR system and for a while it worked flawlessly. Then after making some tweaks and updates, I no longer had audio when watching live tv or subsequent recordings.

I then proceeded to doing what most users would do:
1) Re-Install --> Same result...no audio
2) Got on here and started searching...Found this thread and tried the suggested remedies -- Same result...no audio
3) Installed the Hauppauge PVR2 USB2 on another machine --> Same result..no audio
3) Started Googling and came a cross another forum and thread that talked about how some new drivers from Hauppauge "cripples" some functionality of the pvr devices --> Rolled back the new drivers from Hauppauge and whalla!! I have audio.

I'm not sure how many cards from Hauppauge this effects but I affects mine and that's all I'm concerned about.

Here's my setup:
Intel 845GBV Mobo w/ 1.8GHz P4
1Gb DDR 333 MHz Ram
40GB EIDE (Main)
500GB SATA (Storage)
On-Board Audio (I have an external surround sound system)
Hauppauge PVR2 USB2
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro (left over from recent upgrade)
37" LCD TV
