I'd like the "system" menu of gbpvr to include another option to display something like the tray right-click "show status" to show the status of the tuners. On the MVP at least.

I ask, because I'm worn out dashing up and down three flights of stairs to check the status on the PC screen when tweaking with the MVP and moving coax cable connectors from aerial and STB's which are all remote from the server PC. When checking for picture quality this was the only way to know what I was watching on 'live tv' analogue, DBV or STB - where some are available on all three.

I'd also like some way to prioritise channels. i.e. while trying things out I asked it to record a program on "channel 5" this is available on RF to the PVR150 and both tuners on the dvb-t. It started recording on the PVR150 - this prevents the video section of the PVR from recording any programming from the satellite box.

I suppose what I could do is to remove programs from the PVR150 that are available on DVB, but this I think is a backward step in limiting what is possible.

cheers,
Martin

I can see this would be useful - especially for those with MVPs or with no keyboard/mouse connected to the PVR box

This already happens to some extent - IIRC the recording service will work through each recording source (top to bottom) to find the channel to record, Live TV works from bottom to top

My problem was when I got a new wideband aerial and the dual tuner nova-t.
As the new tuner goes to the bottom of the list and, as you say, recording starts from the top of the list - someone started recording something on "channel 5" say. It finds this on the top entry which is the aerial part of the PVR150. This then stops the next entry being used, which is the fixed RF channel that gets stuff from the satellite box (this would apply to the composite port as well). Sat at the bottom of the list are the two dvb-t ports, both capable of 'channel 5' but sat idle.

Thinking of this, the logic I would contemplate trying, is to allocate the port tuner (or tuners if tied together like the pvr150) that has the least channels available to it so the chances of it being needed later are less.
Even more complicated would be to keep a record of tuner usage and allocate in the least to most used order - but that is probably overkill!.

meantime I'm going to play with a backup of my database and see if I can shuffle the nova-t to the top of the list rather than have to re-enter everything from scratch.

Sorry, I'm not going to be doing anything like that. Your best bet is to set up you Nova-T as the first capture source so that GB-PVR prefers to use this for recording.

A follow up if I may. As I want to change Capture Sources 1,2,3,4 into 3,4,1,2 I thought I'd have a quick look at the database and maybe experiment on a backup. I found that most references were to 'capture_source_oid' 1 to 4, but the recording_schedule seemed to be 0 to 3. Am I doing something wrong or is it a historical difference? - or just tell me to 'go away' as tweaking is unsupported.

I don't really want to start from scratch as I have loads of 'recurring' recordings set up for stuff that isn't in the EPG for when they return and there's no way to add these until they appear in the EPG.

cheers

There is a reason why it happens, but its nothing you need to worry about - just a convenience for me.

OK thanks for that. It initially looks like my few lines of sql has successfully moved the nova-t-500 to the top of the list along with the related data so fingers crossed.

Many thanks.
