It would be great if there was some way to pop up a textual help menu that shows the key mappings for what ever plugin you were using at the time. I don't know about others, but my mind is too full with other peices of important knowledge (Where are my keys? Which remote does what? Do I still have beer left??) to remember all these different key mappings and in many cases, I've been using a plugin for MONTHS and only accidentally find out about a feature when someone posts to the forums to say that it isn't working. (It does *THAT*?!? Shoot, I've been doing that the HARD WAY!)

If there was some kind of standard, or if you could write a hook to decode the keymap for each plugin (hell, even raw unformatted output would be better than nothing!) I think it would go a long way towards usability.

Well I see the wiki was updated to better describe the deafult keyboard map. While this goes a long way to making GPVR more usable it sure would be nicer if I could just hit a function key on my keyboard and have a list of my keymaps come up. Printing the wiki article and keeping it next to me seems counterintuitive since most of the time the GBPVR is on...I'm in the DARK!!

Sub, is there a reasoning behind this or is it just because it's so low on the priority list. Just curious, not trying to be a d**k or anything - I'm damn greatful for what you *do* find time for!

Yeah, its just very low on the priority list, and given all the other stuff I've got on my plate, its unlikely to ever happen.

I kind of think that if you need to have help screens - then the screen is probably too complex. I'd like to be able to do pretty much everything with up/down/left/right/enter, and have enough text on the screen so that the user understands what they are doing. I know you cant always stick to that, but I think the built in screens in GB-PVR are pretty easy to use.

Cool, I can understand that - and thanks for taking the time to reply.

Agreed, one of the reasons I still use the "My X" series from reven is because they ARE so intuitive. I think ubu is on the right track as well seeing as how he's taken some otherwise complex stuff like streaming and made it very menu friendly.

Anyway thanks or the personal response and for a great program/framework. Having done the open source thing myself I realize what an investment of personal time it requires and I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you personally while I had your attention!! Smile
