TV output

I'm trying to send the tv out signal to my new Magnavox TV. My video card (geforce 7600GS) has DVI out but on the TV that is the one thing that I don't have. I used a DVI to HDMI adapter cable to send the signal to the TV and if the TV is on my system detects that there is another display present but nothing shows up on the TV. I'm at a little bit of a loss to even know how to troubleshoot this so any help would be appreciated.

You may need to tell the TV to look at the HDMI cable. Is there some kind of 'switch source' button on your TV.

hmm it's really hard to see because everything is tucked up underneath the TV I'll have to crack open the manual and have a look. I had to pull the TV down just to get the HDMI cable in there and it ways over a hundred pounds so it's not really a one person job with the width of the thing. There is a menu option for the HDMI though and I have that enabled.
