I'm using DirecTV... now with that out in the open :-) here's the question...

I just installed a Happ 150-PVR in my computer and am using gbpvr to create myself a nice little PVR. [Nice program by the way!!!]..

I have the cable from the LNB going into the box and then from the box to the 150-PVR card... the problem is that I have to set the card to channel 3 and have to set the channel on the Directv reciever to record what I want.

Did I hook this up wrong? I'm a little confused at the moment and probably over thinking the entire process but..

Should I hook up my computer directly to the TV [use as a monitor]?
Should I be able to use the channels within gbpvr or do I need to keep this on 3 and continue to record as I am... seems kind of pointless and defeating the purpose to do it this way...

Many thanks!!

Dude,

Please forgive me if I am wrong.....

I believe there are 2 questions in your post..

First Question ~ Your setup is correct for your current application. I have the same setup (although my satellite dish is not DirectTV).

I am assuming your PVR 150 card is the Media Center Edition (MCE) model that does not come with an "IR Blaster" Transmitter/Receiver. The IR blaster is basically an infared light that mimicks the signals from your satellite receiver remote control (such as change channel, volume control ect).

Refer to the Wiki page for the various flavors of PVR-150.

Although I personnaly have not set up an "IR Blaster" yet. If you search the forums you find many threads with advice on how to install one and get it up and running.

Second question ~ Connecting TV to PC (as monitor).
Are you currently using a seperate monitor for your GBPVR computer?
Pardon me.. but I am a little confused by the question.

Unfortunately, yes - since the this type of TV network requires a set top box, you pretty much need to set it up the way you say. In this type of setup its better to rent an extra set top box to dedicate to the PVR.

Analog cable, OTA ATSC digital, DVB users etc fare much better, and dont require a set top box to do this.

No not the MCE edition and I do have the IRBlaster but haven't set that up as of yet...probably later today after work I'll give that a shot..:-)

yes currently because I just set it up to get it running. I do have DVI cable that I can use to connect to the TV and also the monitor because my vid card has 2 outputs.

Not sure what you mean by OTA ATSC digital or DVB... but I'm finding out today if there's an extra set top box available..if so I'll use the extra box to hook to the 150-pvr...........
