Can a restart be sent via EWA?

Does it know when someone is logged in and prevents a system hibernate?

How remote?

Remote from inside your LAN: Easy with Wake on LAN and MagicPackets.

Remote from the internet: Tougher.

Or, you can use Wake on Ring by calling your computer's modem when it is connected to your phone line. If you don't want your PC starting everytime someone calls your phone, then get a second line. One inexpensive way is to go over the internet using a Free World Dialup number, a VOIP phone adaptor (like an unlocked Linksys PAP2) and call the PC with a phone using an IPKall phone number to wake it.

It also makes it easy when you are at home, too. To start that computer downstairs when you are upstairs, where the MVP is, and want to watch some recordings, all you need is a phone to make the wake-up call.

Both of the above assume the PC is in Standby when waking it.

Wol works too if the computer is off.
I had to do some investigation to get my system to start from outside the lan. A lot of internet providers seem not to let through the so called magic packets. I found out that I can telnet in to my router and from there can WOL the computer behind it. I've made a webpage with an easy adres (which even I can remeber), in there I have a telnet link to my router + the wol command which I copy and paste in to the telnet window. BingoSmile

I have a WOL App. on my Cell phone, I just trigger it before I plan to go into EWA. Works great! Some web sites are out there setup for you to send a WOL signal. all you need is your IP and Mac address of the PC to wakeup. If you have a router, just forward port 9 to your PC ( I think packets are sent through port 9 by default?!)

This dedicated GBPVR PC has a Antec case Blue-ray/HD DVD, windows remote+diNovo mini keyboard.
