I'd like to be able to access GBPVR from the internet.

I can bring up EWA fine from my local home LAN, but I can't even access my local network from outside. I determined that my WAN address is 69.249.169.233 & can ping it, but http://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx gives me:

Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I've enabled port forwarding on my router (Linksys WCG200) as follows:

Port Range
Application Start End Protocol IP Address Enable
GBPVR 7647 7648 Both 111.222.333.444 x

Is there something else I'm missing? canyouseeme.org says the port is open...

BTW - I even get this if I disable the firewall on my server.

it often doesnt work from within your own system but if you try a dial upo connection or from another location it may be working
something to do with the router not been able to loop it back

In your URL you note port 7467, in your router config you have specified port 7647 (swapped digits).

It's a typo when I wrote this note. going to http://[...]:7647 doesn't work either.

good catch though - I was hoping that was it.

i had it set up a few years back and spent hours doing what you are doing
with the same problem
what i ended up doing was having a yahoo website(free) with both links on it so i could click on the link from anywhere depending on if i was home or away

I use the cloak to test this (I'm sure there are others) - it won't let you get past the login screen (doesn't allow you to send post requests...) but at least you can see if it is working without having to go through the pain of dial up Big Grin

Just a thought: Could be worth checking the ip address of the GBPVR box - how is it allocated? I reserve "static" ips for my servers/gbpvr on my router and allow dhcp to allocate the remaining range of IPs for laptops etc...

What does the IP represent in this line: GBPVR 7647 7648 Both 72.75.1.204 x

Is this your intermal PC address or an external address....looks to be external to me.
