Hi Sub,

I've had a pretty stable GB-PVR environment until recently where I have the latest version of MS flight simulator installed. Basically after I use then close flight simulator, I get problems in GB-PVR whereby I can not (a) play a file or (b) watch live tv. I am using the microsoft mux (DVR-MS) for a BDA mux.

The error message I get is below:

4/02/2007 9:41:21 AM.265 ERROR [1] Error: msg=0x202 (WM_LBUTTONUP) hwnd=0x20304 wparam=0x0 lparam=0x27a00de result=0x0 : System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

take a look at post #2 on the 99.5 survival guide thread. Seems like the same error.

actually I'm at v0.98.13b so I guess I should upgrade to the latest version first - I'll do this first and double check

It could very well be it. I think that survival guide post has been on there for quite a few versions now.

I don't see anything in the GBPVRRecordingService.log file to suggest its the issue you mentioned, but perhaps I should install the MS patch anyway to double-check.

Does switching from VMR9 Custom to regular VMR9 help?

I suspect its something to do with both apps trying to control the direct3d device.

Tried the patch and this didn't work.

Sub - I then saw your suggestion and this seems to work Smile I'll try this further tonight to confirm. Many thanks (don't really understand why this fixes it, but hey there's a lot of things in GB-PVR I don't understand)

Tks

Sub - actually on this setting I've in fact noticed that on live and playback the video only shows in the top left quarter of the screen, with the remaining filled with "noise" so to speak.

Should I try any of the other settings do you think?

This sounds like the nvidia aspect ratio bug, so I can only guess you're uing an nvidia video card?

I seem to remember turning off the hardware accelleration corrects the nvidia aspect ratio bug.
