Hi All,

First of all I`d like to say how much more success I`ve had with Gbpvr than with the 3 months I`ve wasted on Mediaportal (sorry is that word banned?)

Thanks to the creator and to the support team and fellow users on this forum. Most of my niggles have been sorted via a bit of searching on the forum.

Now to my problem.

I am using Gbpvr 0.99.5 with a Nova T-500, FX5200 and Nvidia purevideo codec.

I cannot use any of the VRM modes as they give me stuttering playback, but overlay plays fine.

When I use overlay though, I can`t get the screen positioned right on my CRT widescreen.

Going through the F7 modes gives me letterbox and a nicely fitting OSD. Filling the screen gives me a horrible stretched/zoom effect with the OSD overlapping the edges.

The VRM mode gives me a nice full screen with nicely fitting OSD, but with the stuttering.

I have found the zoom overlay functions in the Nvidia properties and it`s set as far to out as it will go.

I`m guessing overlay does not use any of the graphics card resolutions (am I right in thinking this?)

So how can I use overlay and get a nice unzoomed full screen picture with fitting OSD as in VRM modes?

If any more info is needed please ask.

Thanks for any help

Dan.

You could try tweaking the overscan settings in the config.xml file.

Quote: <!-- overscan control (border size in pixels) -->
<OverScanBorderX1>0</OverScanBorderX1>
<OverScanBorderY1>0</OverScanBorderY1>
<OverScanBorderX2>0</OverScanBorderX2>
<OverScanBorderY2>0</OverScanBorderY2>
<OverScanVideoAlso>true</OverScanVideoAlso>

Hi Sub,

Right .....I set one of the values to 100 to see what happened and it brought one of the sides in.

I then went back to change some more values, saved the setting and tried it again, my screen size was back as I started. I then checked the config file again to find it had reset to the default 0,0,0,0. I thought that I had made a mistake in the saving of the file so I changed the values again, saved them closed the file then re-opened the file to check the values were still there, which they was.

Opened the player to find no change in picture size, checked the config file again to find it was back to default 0,0,0,0.

What would reset the overscan commands in the config file.

I`m also suddenly having trouble getting the player to open in full screen.

I untick the windowed box in the setup click ok, just to find it ticked again on return.

Sure am having problem to getting settings to stick.....

Thanks

Dan.

The only thing I can think of that would reset the values is if you had the config app open when you edited the file, then later clicked the OK button (which would have caused the in memory copy of config.xml to be written to disk). A similar thing can happen if you're running GBPVR.exe at the time, then later change a setting in the System -> Settings screen.

OK Sub found the problem

As I was working with a config file, I thought I would back it up first so I placed a copy of this file on the desktop.

Big mistake!!!

Don`t get me wrong I wasn`t editing the wrong file. I was indeed editing the file in the main program folder, but with this unopened copy of the file just sitting on the desktop it was giving me save problems....Why!! I don`t know

I deleted the file to the recycled bin.....job done, settings saved.

Screen now resized and looking good

Thanks for your help sub

Dan.
