Zehd -
i can set up a 2avi profile as i want quiet happily and get it applied
if i manually process or process all from the file selection tab -

however if I put things into the queue and tell it to process - it comes up with some default (transMVP) profile for the transcode regardless of what i select in the transcode tab?
(at least for me anyway)

is there a way i can set the profile to be used for the queue tab - i dont use
or own mvps and want to convert stuff down to avi from dvr-ms to save space.

By default ZProcess is supposed to use the Trans2MVP if it gets passed anything other than a MPG

And if it gets passed a MPG, it defaults to the 2avi profile. That means you could have a queue full of stuff, and ZxProcess should be swithcing profils automatically...

That said, I will look to see if the functions still occur. There have been enough patches that it could have been broken by accident

I have thought of this feature but since I don't really know how many people are using the queue feature, I didn't know how much time to spend on it. Now, I'm busy enough that it might be a while before I code it.

As far as transcoding your MPGs and DVRs to AVI for space, I'm surprised actually. I've always thought that any downsizing to an appreciably smaller size, looks terrible. And then if you wish to watch it again on the MVP it has to be upsized into MPG.

I suggest transcoding your large DVR and MPG to smaller MPGs using a trans2MVP (with a bitrate of around 2000 and a dimension of 352x240). IMHO it looks much better.

And then there's getting a bigger drive, which is very very cheap.... But then you already thought of that, (and perhaps ruled it out)

Anyway, I'm going to make sure that the transcoding queue is working right. Give me a couple of days...

thanks for that Zehd,
at least i know know there are some implicit behaviours -

my interest was really for achival of kids stuff - where they arent overly concerned on the quality (some might go so far as the content as well ! Smile)

ive seen some reasonable quality avi / (using mpeg 4 /divx ) -
and thats what i was playing with

as i dont have an mvp its safe to play with the transMVP profile as this is the hardcoded default - will have a play.

I've fixed it...
When using the transcode queue, ZProcess 983 will now choose the 2avi profile if you send it a MPG, and use the 2mpg profile if you send it anything else...

This is the original behaviour that was crippled while fixing other issues. I believe that fixing this issue has not caused other ones to crop up...

Cheers

hate to bump up an oldie, but this is pretty close to what I wanted to ask.
It seems the queue was designed only for avi to mpeg and mpeg to avi (if I'm understanding the info above correctly).
Is it possible to get the queue to use other profiles at all? I just got a PSP and have tried some other programs that convert files to mpeg4 for PSP playback, but all of them do it one-by-one. I thought it would be cool (and save a lot of time) if I could use ZProcess's queue to convert a batch of files to PSP files. I also ask because it would be great if I could avoid downloading another program and allow Zprocess to save the day once again.
Thanks.

If you're referring to the queue, you must be talking about version 1. Both version 1 and 2 will take profile names as parameters... but the queue feature in version 1 does not support different profile names.

If you sort through the docs on deferred queuing with batch files, you would be able to select whatever you want on the command line

In the new year I'm planning an making a separate util 'ZQueue' that will streamline this whole process...
