Good evening All.

I have a unique problem. Approximately every 7 to 10 days, I need to restore my system from an Image (luckily, I always create an image when i finish building and perfecting a system). For an unknown reason, the sound stops or goes down to an inaudible level every 1.5 weeks on my scheduled recordings. The only solution is for me to copy the recordings dump file and restore my image and everything works fine again.

I can find no reason for this happening. It's not an automatic update, they're turned off. The system is dedicated and only used for GBPVR. I don't have any driver updates installed, nothing. Literally, it's only use is GBPVR. the last image restore was on 3/6 and then i had to restore it again this morning, 3/15.

Any thoughts as to what may be happening?

Specs: AMD64 3200+, 1GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Windows XP Pro, ATI Theator, PVR150.

I'd have to guess its a driver for something misbehaving.

When it happens, is it problem regardless of what you playback? ie is playing a file that was recorded previously and had good audio also quiet or missing all audio?

Only on new recordings. All previously recorded shows are fine. Once again, drivers are the same 10 days from now...no changes whatsoever. The system stays on 24/7. Maybe a fresh reboot daily?

BTW, this happens on BOTH tuners...it doesn't matter which is recording the night it fails.

Odd. I cant see how it would possibly affect both tuners from different manufacturers. It could only be the device itself or its drivers that could be causing this.

There is nothing in GB-PVR that would affect this. GB-PVR doesnt process the sound in anyway itself. The output of these hardware encoder devices is written straight to disk. The sound would have to have already been broken in the MPEG2 stream coming out of the card.

Yes, I think it's odd too. I'll schedule a fresh nightly reboot and see if it happens again.

I'll let you know the results.

Thanks!

I dont remember seeing any other reports of this.

PVR150's are reknown for occassionally producing recordings with no audio, but this only affects some people, and this would affect your ATI card. This PVR150 bug also results in no audio, not just quieter.
