Info from plugins on the main menu?

Ohhhh nice.  I will try and do something with this in the weather plugin this weekend!

I can set it up to only get the data every 10 minutes or so by that 'needsrendering' method. But it still will slow the display of the main menu occasionally. Unless you are making these calls to get the panels in a non-blocking manner?

When the user is viewing the main menu, the new interface will be asked once a second if it has something that needs to be rendered. It should only return 'true' when it has some new to render. If it returns 'true' will then ask it to render the panel.

I did but its not worth building on my example, I just returned a black square with "this is a test" to try it out.

Yes, thats how I was going to implement the logic to go and get updated weather information every 10 minutes.  But every 10 minutes, when it is time to go get the weather data, the menu will be held up until the weather info is retrieved unless you aren't blocking on the renderPanel() call. But I suppose I could play some threading games in the weather plugin to reduce that impact, if you are blocking.

sub can you send me your example with "this is a test" im having a little problems getting anything to go. im not sure how to setup the render method.

I no longer have that sample sorry. After this next release is out of the way, I'll try and knock up samples using the IInfoPanel and IEventNotification plugin interfaces.
