DVB EPG Broadcast won't update...

Yeah, when I try to update the EPG (DVB Broadcast), it crashes GB-PVR. If I do it from the tray icon, it pops up, then goes white (as in no response), then disappears. It used to work. I didn't change anything that I can think of. I did a complete fresh install to see if something was just a little weird with a config file, but nope, same problem.

I'll attach my logs for you if you want them. Any idea what would cause this?

Thanks (btw, now that I programmed my own transponder file, all my channels come in, and everything works great!)

It shouldnt crash, but I wasnt aware on any compatible DVB EPG signals used in Canada. I though Bell ExpressVu and DishNetwork both used proprietary EPG stuff?

I'm not sure just what I did, but it's working fine now. ExpressVU will give you the two day EPG by scanning each transponder (if I'm not mistaken). Actually the 7 day EPG is on transponder 12268, and in MyTheatre, MediaPortal, and MythTV it will load the 7 day EPG. In MyTheatre and MediaPortal's case, simply tuning into a channel on that transponder will fill in the EPG. I don't think MediaPortal has any proprietary stuff in it (as their North American scanning is pretty weak, so they obviously haven't spent the time...)

Is there any way I could try to instruct GB-PVR to grab the EPG listings from 12268? If it turns out it's not proprietary, then it would make life a whole lot easier. Smile

Is this something I can do on my end? Because I'd gladly test it out.

To be honest, I dont think so. It currently expects the EPG listings to be on the same frequency as the channel.

For some strange reason, the crash is back. No matter what I do, it will not grab the EPG. The only things I have been changing recently is codec/multiplexer combination settings (was having trouble with stuttering video). I'm still using the same multiplexer though, and I don't know if that even has anything to do with getting the EPG updates...

Any ideas?

I'm guessing it doesnt like some in the stream your broadcaster is transmitting, but its virtually impossible to guess what that might be.

If you have access to a web server, you could record a one minute long full transport stream for me, which I could download and run through the debugger here.

I think I found the key. I turned of Multidec support in the config, and then it grabbed my EPG perfectly. I'm thinking that something has changed maybe in Emunation that causes this. It has been hit and miss lately. Any way to tell GB to bypass the multidec plugins when getting an EPG update?

Thanks sub!

Good find. I suspect you're right.
