What is the designed behavior WRT "fighting" over tuners between client/server?

Assume single tuner available at the server, and scenarios:
1) Server watches live TV, client connets and tries to watch something else?
2) Server is recording, client connects and tries to change channels?
3) Cleint is watchin TV, from the server, the user selects live TV and changes channels?

What is the result in each?

Thanks

Client is told no tuner is available.

Quote:2) Server is recording, client connects and tries to change channels?

Cool. Perfect. The only thing I would think to maybe add is some sort of info to "why" there is no tuner? I mean, if it's a recording you scheduled, you should know (and if not, you can easily check), but if there is a client watching your server? and you don't know why you can't watch TV now? or worse, you could have left a client/server in Live TV mode and forgot about it.
Maybe:
Code:
There is no tuner available.
Tuner1: Live TV by Server
Tuner2: Recording program "Foo"
Tuner3: Live TV by Client 192.168.1.222

This could be useful I guess also within the server, but much more so in client/server setup with multiple users.

Just something to think about. You can move it to the Wishlist if you prefer.

Doesn't it already tell you this?

It will say, no tuners available and what program is being recorded?

Well, all it does, like Sub said, is tell you that you can not. Not why. Definitely not the IP or hostname of the client using your tuners...

Same on the client and server side, when the other is doing Live TV and the single tuner, and the second is trying also to do Live TV.

I see - so you want to see the netbios name or IP address of whatever machine has control of the TV tuner. Sounds like a good idea, kind of misunderstood.

No worries. Even better, if I see others think it's a good idea... Smile
