Which DVB-S PCI card? Currently I have a pvr-350 and I want to add a DVB-S PCI card capture device.
I have read http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=24674 post and don't want to highjack someone else's post.

This is how I understand things.
My 350 is happy encoding and decoding onboard MPEG2 via s-video in and out. My CPU is around 4%-7%. I like it that way and I would want to keep it that way if possible.
I would like to add a DVB-S card. From my reading I have found a Nova-S PCI card. As I understand it this card does onboard processing of the satellite signal. After is has processed the signal it passes this data to the PC. I am assuming this data is in MPEG2 format. Is this correct??

Now that the PC has the processed satellite signal how do I configure GBPVR to stream the ouptut of the DVB-S card to the PVR 350 card for watching live TV?

Now, if I'm correct in that the output of the DVB-S card is MPEG2 then the whole signal processing flow is very similar to my current setup.
Current: s-video in -> PVR-350 process to MPEG2 -> GBPVR -> harddrive + PVR 350 -> s-video out
DVB-S: Sat in -> Nova-S process to MPEG2 -> GBPVR -> harddrive + PVR 350 -> s-video out

So from this I assume again that my CPU would remain in the 4%-7% range. Would this be right?

Also would it be possible to get GBPVR to download the EPG from the satellite signal?

Any advice?
Does anyone else recommend a different DVB-S card or setup?
Am I barking mad for trying this?

Thanks in advance.Smile

Yes, in theory this is correct, though I've never tested it myself. Its been a really long time since I did anything with my PVR350.

You need to by using either the Cyberlink or ATI mux to end up with a .mpg file during recording.

Yes, although it works better for some than others.
