Hi!

Since I'm running my GBPVR via a Matrox G550 w/ DVD MAX to an SDTV I figure there's no need to de-interlace during the live-tv decoding.

Indeed, if I set Deinterlacing to None in the Miscellaneous tab I get a much cleaner and crisper picture (as you'd expect).

The only problem is after a while the audio and video desync. I can't stand this, so I've switched back to using the Hauppauge Intervideo NonCSS codec in Non-Interlace mode for now (BOBWEAVE=2), which is nearly as good but has lag.

Anyone suggest any solutions?

Cheers! Smile

I'd try another audio decoder. Isn't there a way to turn de-interlacing off in the hauppauge decoder? How do you get to the settings for that decoder anyway? When I press the video-decoder-settings button I don't get a settings screen, only a screen to set some video-capture-file -location.:confused:

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try a different audio decoder later on tonight..

As for turning off interlacing with the Hauppauge Intervideo decoder, Setting the "BOBWEAVE" reg key to 2 will do that.

I currently have mine set at 2, which disables interlacing (better picture), which answers your question as to the settings and config for this decoder, look here:-

Just got confirmation on the meaning of the values for the BOBWEAVE key.

0=Auto, 1=On, 2=Off.

So I guess the fact that I'm setting it to 2, means no interlacing, which is why my picture is so much better on my SDTV.

So in answer to a previous question, set this to 2 to turn off interlacing on the Hauppauge NonCSS decoder.

Just a shame that bypassing the decoder and telling GBPVR to not interlace live tv (via the misc tab) has sync issues as that method is preferrable due to there being no "lag" on the display..

Thanks for the thread link, looks like that's the exact issue I have.

I've posted a reply there to see if Sub can expand a little.

Thanks again Smile

As explained in the other thread you replied to, this is a known problem with the Hauppauge devices. If you use the live preview outputs, not the encoder, then the audio video eventually goes out of sync. There isnt really anything GB-PVR can do about this.
