I'm trying to use the MVP Server Checker but it doesn't seem to work.

I've set GBPVR to auto start 4 server processes. This creates 4 x GBPVR.exe's (seen in task manager). If I kill one of these from task manager, it gets re-started.

When I start MVP Server Checker, the current GBPVR.exe count shows as 0. If I manually start a GBPVR.exe, the count increases. If I press Kill & Restart, the process I've manually started gets killed but doesn't get re-started.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I've tried the GBPVR service both as a system login and under the user login that I normally use. The user login is an admin account. Both give the same results.

System is Windows XP Pro & dedicated as an MVP server. Latest version of GBPVR.

First of, I have my GB-PVR to logon to system account and interact with desktop. I have no idea what would happen if it's other than the default. I'm big on defaults. Probably not going to try and find out with a different account....

In fact I'm pretty sure that it won't be able to count the windows unless they are in the same session...

You set the number of auto start servers in GB-PVR and set the drop down for the same amount of servers. It auto-saves and you do not have to do anything to 'save settings'. The new number is used immediately...

It's designed that, if there are more than the dropdown list count of servers, it will kill all servers and have the recording service restart them all. So if you're at 4/4 and you add another manually, it will kill all of them, before a restart...

It also hides any popups that errantly pop up...

I'm not sure what else to say. If you have questions, shoot...

I think I've sussed the problem (but not the answer).

My GBPVR machine doesn't have a monitor or keyboard as it's used to serve three MVPs. I always use a remote connection to login to it. Obviously GBPVR starts under the local system account but when I log in I'm using a user account. The server checker picks up manual GBPVR.exes started under the user account but doesn't see those started by the recording service. If I change GBPVR to run under the user account, it doesn't see them either.

The local system account is set to interact with the desktop.

I assume the server checker will only work properly if it's run from the actual physical PC and not a remote user login.

And this is the reason I don't use Windows Remote Desktop.. I use TightVNC (others are fine methinks) and that keeps the sessions straight. You should have no problem with a Desktop session remote software... Trust MVPServerChaecker and put it in the Startup folder: restart... You should see 4 servers listed...

Installed TightVNC and the server monitor in the startup folder and set config to start 4 instances of GBPVR.
Reboot server and login via TightVNC. I now have 4 instances showing in the serverchecker, kill them and they auto-restart. Big Grin I can also see 4 instances of the trayicon Big Grin

Unfortunately, my MVPs wont now play any music, show photos or access my video library. Sad Sad because they're on a network server and you lose access to them when you start GBPVR from the system account. Auto-Start GBPVR from a user account and the server checker doesn't see them and I get no tray icons.

Ah well, looks like I'm not going to be able to use the server checker then.
